Peacemaker Presents: The Vigilante/Eagly Double Feature # 1 is an over-the-top, mature-rated five-issue miniseries published by DC Black Label. Written by Tim Seeley and Rex Ogle, with James Gunn serving as a story consultant, the series is inspired by the Peacemaker TV show on Max.
The debut issue features two parallel, action-comedy stories:
-
Vigilante: "A Time for Fables": When Peacemaker goes on vacation, Vigilante (Adrian Chase) assumes his "bestest friend" has been kidnapped by a mysterious robot overlord called "The Controller". Vigilante goes on a violent rampage across Evergreen to "rescue" him, unaware that Peacemaker is simply out of town.
-
Eagly: "Peaceful Vacation": Eagly and his "sidekick" Chris Smith (Peacemaker) head to the wilderness for a much-needed break. Their vacation is cut short when they are targeted by a group of masked assassins—the League of Assassins—who hunt passengers for sport.
-
Visual Style: The issue uses separate art styles for each story to reflect the different perspectives—Mitch Gerads illustrates the Vigilante segments, while Matteo Lolli handles the Eagly story.
-
Vigilante's Journal: Each issue includes entries from Vigilante’s journal, "How to Be a Superhero," providing insight into his eccentric thought process.
-
Continuity: While set between Seasons 1 and 2 of the TV show, James Gunn has clarified that the comic is not canon to the main DC Universe (DCU).
