Pounds of Power #1 is a 24-page debut issue of a new 4-part miniseries published by Antarctic Press (distributed by Massive Publishing), scheduled for release on April 29, 2026. The series is a heartfelt tribute to the late stand-up comedian Ralphie May, featuring a protagonist inspired by his appearance and persona.
Plot Overview
The story follows Johnny, a socially awkward, tech-savvy "nerd" who is significantly overweight and works in the basement of Evale's corporate building. After a raid on the company’s secret laboratory, Johnny is thrust into a classified project involving Dr. Askew’s research on converting body fat into meta-human energy and abilities. Johnny must decide if the traits that once made him a target could actually make him a hero.
Antarctic Press pays tribute to one of the (literally) big names in stand-up comedy with this miniseries inspired by Ralphie May. Johnny is used to being background noise at his job. He fixes problems and keeps his head down. Then a classified project yanks him out of the basement tech department routine and into a world of brilliant ambition, corporate secrecy—and perhaps most importantly, a scientist who sees something in Johnny no one else ever has. As pressure builds inside the company, Johnny faces a simple, terrifying question: What if the thing that made him an easy target is exactly what makes him dangerous, valuable … maybe even heroic? Another fine book from Antarctic Press
