Pretty Hate Machine #1 is the first issue of a five-part horror-mystery miniseries from Mad Cave Studios, scheduled for release on April 8, 2026. Co-written by Ryan O'Nan and Tim Seeley, the series is described as a "90s grunge horror" tale set in decaying rural America. 

Plot Summary

The story centers on Thomas, a teenager struggling with the sudden death of his father in a "freak accident". 

• The Conflict: While his mother seeks comfort from his uncle, Thomas is visited by Luther, a ghoulish entity with "knives for hands and rows of teeth like an ancient shark".
• The Revelation: Luther claims Thomas’s father was actually murdered and that his family is lying to him.
• The Journey: Thomas is pulled into a "bloody whirlwind" of vengeance and conspiracies as he tries to uncover the truth while preventing his new, monstrous companion from leaving a massacre in his wake.
