Primer # 1, published on March 26, 2024, is the debut issue of a four-part limited series that serializes and reprints the original 2020 Primer graphic novel for the first time in a periodical comic format. Written by Jennifer Muro and Thomas Krajewski with art by Gretel Lusky, the issue introduces the origin story of Ashley Rayburn.
The story follows Ashley Rayburn, an upbeat 13-year-old girl with a history of moving between foster homes due to her father's incarceration in federal prison. Her life changes when she is taken in by a new foster couple, Kitch and Yuka Nolan.
