Siege: Spider-Man #1, released in April 2010, is an action-oriented one-shot that ties into the finale of Marvel's Siege event. Written by Brian Reed with art by Marco Santucci, the story focuses on the final showdown between Peter Parker and the man who stole his identity during the "Dark Reign" era—Mac Gargan (the current host of the Venom symbiote).

Core Plot & Key Events

  • The Battle for Asgard: As Norman Osborn leads an all-out assault on Asgard (then located above Broxton, Oklahoma), Spider-Man joins the true Avengers to reclaim the world from Osborn’s H.A.M.M.E.R.
  • The Identity Clash: The primary conflict is a brutal brawl between Peter Parker and Mac Gargan, who has been posing as the "Amazing Spider-Man" on Osborn's Dark Avengers team.
  • Ms. Marvel’s Intervention: Carol Danvers (Ms. Marvel) joins the fight and helps Spider-Man by literally ripping Mac Gargan out of the Venom symbiote.
  • The Symbiote's Target: Briefly, the symbiote attempts to bond with Ms. Marvel. To stop it, Spider-Man lures the creature to a power station, using a massive electrical discharge to super-charge Carol's powers, allowing her to break free.
  • The "Kobe Beef" Moment: A dark highlight includes Venom’s cannibalistic behavior, as he admits to enjoying the "Kobe beef" of Norse flesh while chewing on Asgardian warriors during the chaos.
