Spider-Man: House of M #1, published in August 2005, is the first issue of a five-part limited series tie-in to the massive House of M event. Set in an alternate reality where mutants are the dominant species, Peter Parker leads a "perfect" life that is eventually threatened by a dark secret.
Plot Summary: "The Hottest Celeb"
In this reality created by the Scarlet Witch, Peter Parker has everything he ever wanted:
- A Perfect Family: He is married to Gwen Stacy, and they have a young son named Richie. His Uncle Ben and Gwen's father, George Stacy, are both alive and well.
- Fame and Success: Peter is a world-famous celebrity, an international hero, and the World Wrestling Alliance Championship titleholder. He even owns his own company, having bought out Norman Osborn.
- The Reversal: His former boss, J. Jonah Jameson, now works for him as his publicist and agent, allowing Peter to subject him to the same verbal abuse he once endured.
- The Secret: Despite his prestige, the world believes Peter is a mutant. His "destructive secret" is that he is actually a human who gained powers from a radioactive spider. The Green Goblin appears to Jameson, offering to help expose Peter and ruin his life.
