Spider-Man: Shadow of the Green Goblin #1 released on April 3, 2024, is the first issue of a four-part limited series that revisits Peter Parker's earliest days as Spider-Man. Written by legendary Spidey author J.M. DeMatteis (Kraven's Last Hunt), the story reveals new "Spider-Lore" regarding the origins of Norman Osborn's legacy. 

Core Storyline: "Chapter One: Family Plot"

Set shortly after the death of Uncle Ben, the story follows a 15-year-old Peter Parker who is still learning how to handle his powers. 

• The Proto-Goblin: The issue reveals that Norman Osborn was not the first Goblin. It introduces the Proto-Goblin, a man Osborn used to test his formula, who has been transformed into a red "rage monster".
• Family Dysfunction: The narrative focuses on three families dealing with grief: the Parkers, the Osborns, and the Stacys. It explores the early struggles of Gwen Stacy and Harry Osborn before they officially met Peter.
• A New Antagonist: The Proto-Goblin is being manipulated by a "new puppet master"—revealed to be Harry's mother, who was previously an unexplored character in earlier lore.
