Star Wars: Legacy of Vader #1, published by Marvel Comics on February 5, 2025, is the debut issue of an ongoing canon series set between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker. Written by Charles Soule and illustrated by Luke Ross, it follows Kylo Ren as he attempts to "kill the past" while inadvertently becoming deeper entangled with his grandfather's dark legacy. 

Plot Summary: "The Shadow of the Master"

The story opens shortly after the Battle of Crait, with Kylo Ren asserting his new role as Supreme Leader. 

• A Grip of Iron: Kylo presents Snoke's bisected body to First Order officers to demand total loyalty. Despite his outward command, he is plagued by intrusive visions of his parents and Luke Skywalker.
• Journey to Mustafar: Seeking to stabilize his connection to the dark side, Kylo travels to Fortress Vader. He brutally cuts through the Alazmec of Winsit cultists who guard the site.
• Vaneé's Revelation: Deep within the fortress, Kylo encounters Vaneé, Vader's former attendant, who now exists as a cyborg head. Vaneé promises to teach Kylo how Vader used his painful memories as a source of strength rather than trying to destroy them.
• A New Quest: The issue concludes with Kylo deciding to follow in his grandfather's footsteps, beginning with a journey to Tatooine to uncover the secrets of Anakin Skywalker's origin.
