Star Wars: Visions - Peach Momoko # 1 2023 NM

Star Wars: Visions - Peach Momoko #1 is a standalone one-shot comic from Marvel Comics, released on November 15, 2023, with a cover date of January 2024. Written and illustrated by superstar artist Peach Momoko, it is the first in a series of Marvel Visions one-shots that allow creators to tell original stories outside of official Star Wars canon. 

Story and Themes

The story, titled "The Followers of Ankok," is set centuries after the death of a major Sith Lord. 

• The Cult of Ankok: In this era, the Dark Side has become a legend, and a mysterious cult has emerged promising to end suffering by embracing the darkness.
• A "Dark Light": Peach Momoko explores the idea that falling to the Dark Side isn't necessarily shameful but can be a way to deal with trauma and fear—a "dark light" to help those in need.
• Silent Storytelling: Following Momoko's signature style, the comic features almost no dialogue, relying on her atmospheric watercolor art to convey the narrative. 

Core Characters

Momoko introduced an original cast of characters for this vision of the galaxy: 

• Kako: A young girl and descendant of a Sith commander who harbors a deep hatred for the Cult of Ankok.
• Gel: Kako’s loyal partner droid.
• Ankok/Tata: The leader and messenger of the cult who believes she is the successor to the Sith legacy.
• Popo: A bored shop worker who gets swept up in the adventure.
