Starfire #1 2015 marks the beginning of the character's first-ever ongoing solo series, shifting her from a team-based warrior to a "fish out of water" protagonist trying to live a normal life in Key West, Florida. Written by the creative team behind Harley Quinn (Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti) and featuring art by Emanuela Lupacchino, the series focuses more on character-driven comedy and slice-of-life storytelling than traditional superhero action. 

Story Synopsis 

After traveling the world on Superman's advice to find a place where she can truly belong, Princess Koriand'r of Tamaran decides to settle in the tropical locale of Key West. 

• Meeting the Sheriff: The issue begins with Starfire meeting Stella Gomez, the local sheriff of Key West, to ask for guidance on how to assimilate into human society.
• The Origin Recap: While talking with Stella, Kori recaps her traumatic past—her royal upbringing on Tamaran, being sold into slavery by her sister Komand'r, and her eventual escape to Earth.
• Settling In: Stella helps Kori navigate human customs, starting with basic needs like finding a home and converting alien gems into human currency.
• The First Threat: As Starfire attempts to adjust to her new environment, a massive, unnatural storm begins brewing on the horizon, signaling that her peaceful retirement will be short-lived. 

Key Characters 

The series introduces a new supporting cast that serves as a "sitcom-esque" family for Kori: 

• Stella Gomez: The pragmatic and occasionally hot-tempered sheriff who becomes Kori's mentor and "minder".
• Sol Gomez: Stella’s brother and a member of the Coast Guard, who becomes a primary love interest for Starfire.
