Suicide Squad # 1 2020 is the first issue of the sixth volume of the series, published by DC Comics in December 2019 (with a cover date of February 2020). It was written by the acclaimed Tom Taylor (Injustice) and features art by Bruno Redondo.

"Bad Blood"

The issue launches a new, high-octane story arc focusing on a brutal and high-casualty mission.

• New Leadership: A new, ruthless government liaison named Lok takes over the operations of Task Force X from Amanda Waller.
• The Mission: The Squad is dispatched to neutralize a new group of international "super-terrorists" known as the Revolutionaries after the latter steal a nuclear submarine.
• A Bloody Start: The mission is incredibly violent from the start, resulting in the immediate deaths of several newly introduced characters, including the villain Cavalier.
• The Twist: The core conflict of the series begins when the U.S. government decides that the surviving Revolutionaries will be forced to join the Suicide Squad. This creates intense internal conflict, as the surviving original members, like Harley Quinn and Deadshot, realize their new teammates are the very people they were sent to kill. The dynamic shifts from just surviving the mission to surviving each other.
