Suicide Squad Most Wanted: Deadshot and Katana # 1 is an extra-sized anthology one-shot published on January 27, 2016 (cover dated March 2016). It features two independent solo stories spotlighting core members of Task Force X. 

Story 1: "Deadshot: Out of the Past"

• Creative Team: Written by Brian Buccellato with art by Viktor Bogdanovic.
• Plot: Floyd Lawton is on a mission in South America to infiltrate a drug cartel and assassinate its leader, Guillermo "Che" LaPaz.
• The Conflict: Back at Belle Reve, Amanda Waller assigns Deadshot a new partner, a rookie marksman named Will Evans. The two clash immediately during a mission to kidnap LaPaz's daughter.
• The Twist: Deadshot eventually goes rogue, abandoning the mission to confront a personal ghost from his past—his own father. 

Story 2: "Katana: Dawn of the Age of Chaos"

• Creative Team: Written by Katana co-creator Mike W. Barr with art by Diogenes Neves.
• Plot: Katana travels to Markovia to learn the origins of her mystical Soultaker sword.
• The Conflict: Her plane is shot down, leading her to encounter the terrorist cult Kobra, who have taken over the region.
• The Outcome: She attempts to protect an astrophysicist, Dr. Helga Jace, but the issue ends with Katana being bested in battle and Dr. Jace being captured by the Kobra leader.
