Suicide Squad: Rebirth # 1 was originally released in August 2016 as a one-shot to launch the DC Rebirth series. While the original issue was released in 2016, a "Special Edition" was indeed released in December 2018, often referred to by retailers as

• Plot: Amanda Waller recruits the imprisoned military leader Rick Flag to provide a "moral compass" and leadership to Task Force X, which consists of Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, Katana, and Killer Croc.
• Backup Story: It also includes the backup story focusing on Deadshot's origins and his relationship with his daughter.
