Plot Synopsis

The story shifts the classic Superman mythos directly into the distant 30th Century, offering a highly unique sci-fi landscape:

  • The Discovery: In the year 2987, a brilliant and wealthy young tech prodigy named R.J. Brande is surveying an asteroid belt when he discovers a long-lost, ancient Kryptonian birthing matrix drifting through deep space. Inside the pod, he finds a perfectly preserved, super-powered infant.
  • The Upbringing: Brande adopts the baby boy, names him Kal-El, and raises him in absolute secrecy on a private asteroid oasis to shield him from the galaxy's corrupt, bureaucratic governing body, the Science Police. As Kal-El grows up under a yellow sun, he develops the classic array of Kryptonian superpowers.
  • The Call to Action: Upon turning 14, Kal-El grows restless watching the galaxy succumb to galactic crime, civil unrest, and political corruption. Inspired by tales of the historical "Age of Heroes" from 20th-century Earth, he chooses the moniker Superboy
  • Gathering the Legion: Recognizing that he cannot save the universe entirely on his own, Superboy uses his family's vast resources to travel the cosmos and recruit other extraordinary, super-powered teenagers. By the end of the first issue, he successfully forms the foundation of the legendary Legion of Super-Heroes—bringing in iconic foundational members like Cosmic Boy, Lightning Lad, and Saturn Girl.
