Supergirl and the Legion of Super-Heroes #23 is a classic comic book issue originally published by DC Comics in October 2006. This milestone issue tackles a major turning point for Kara Zor-El during her time trapped in the 31st century.

Core Storyline

  • The Rude Awakening: Ever since arriving in the future, Supergirl has been convinced that her entire reality—including the Legion and the destruction of Krypton—is just an elaborate, vivid dream.
  • The Intervention: To snap her out of this delusion, the Legion (Cosmic Boy, Saturn Girl, Brainiac 5, and Light Lass) sedate Kara and bring her to Rokyn, a planet under a red sun populated by Kryptonian survivors from the former bottle city of Kandor. [1]
  • The Twist: Seeing her people face-to-face forces Kara to finally accept reality. However, the breakthrough turns bittersweet when the Legion decides to leave her behind in Kandor under medical supervision, where she is treated like an ancient, slow-speaking historical relic.
  • The B-Plot: Meanwhile, back in Metropolis, Triplicate Girl and Element Lad investigate old robot rebellion tunnels. They recruit a kid with plant-manipulation powers ("Plant Kid"), unaware that he is actually a spy with ulterior motives.

Creative Team

  • Writer: Masterfully written by Eisner Award-winner Mark Waid.
  • Artists: Illustrated by Barry Kitson (pencils) and Mick Gray (inks).
