Core Storyline & Plot

  • Helspont's Origin: The issue kicks off with a flashback expanding the cosmic history of the conqueror Helspont on his Daemonite homeworld. Centuries ago, his vision to revitalize his race's weakened genetics resulted in his banishment by his own mother, prompting his vow to rule the universe.
  • Metropolis Invasion: In the present day, Clark Kent deals with the comedic struggles of having Jimmy Olsen as an incredibly messy new apartment roommate. His morning is cut short when Helspont's massive flagship arrives over Metropolis, bringing a fleet of hidden Daemonites out of civilian disguise.
  • The Alien Recruits: Helspont sends planetary emissaries to Earth's heavy-hitting alien heroes. Emissaries approach Starfire, Martian Manhunter (J'onn J'onzz), and Hawkman to recruit them, citing a prophecy known as "The Thirteen Scions of Salvation".
  • The Ultimate Revelation: Superman battles Helspont but is physically overwhelmed and left defeated. Before leaving, Helspont drops a massive psychological bombshell, revealing that he possesses highly confidential knowledge regarding Superman's biological father, Jor-El.
