Swamp Thing 1989 #1 is a 32-page historical comic release from DC Comics, officially arriving in stores on April 29, 2026. This "lost issue" finally publishes the controversial finale of Rick Veitch's acclaimed late-1980s run, which was originally canceled in 1989. Released under the DC Black Label imprint for mature readers, it is the first of a four-issue miniseries.

The "Lost" Story

The plot picks up with Swamp Thing being cast back through time to Jerusalem. He encounters a humble carpenter (Jesus Christ) whose presence is set to alter the creature's destiny and the trajectory of the DC Universe forever. This issue also sets the stage for the origin of Etrigan the Demon and initiates a mythic journey back to the beginning of time.
