• The Meeting with Abby: While at Arcane's castle, Alec meets Anton's niece, Abigail Arcane. The two immediately bond and fall in love, sharing a playful and innocent connection.
• The Rot Revealed: Alec discovers a strange plant that rejects chlorophyll and is actually made of necrotic tissue—the physical manifestation of The Rot.
• The Betrayal and Escape: Arcane, who has been using a human skin mask to hide his rot-disfigured face, reveals his nefarious plot. He attempts to kill Alec, but a temporary avatar of the Green rescues him and hands him off to Jason Woodrue to be returned safely to the swamp.
• Memory Wipe: The Parliament of Trees explains they wiped this memory to protect Alec; had he remembered Abby, he would have returned for her and been caught by Arcane again.
