The Demon Annual # 1 1992 titled "Ex-Nihilo… Death!", is an oversized one-shot that ties into DC’s "Eclipso: The Darkness Within" crossover event. Released in August 1992, it was written by Alan Grant with art by Joe Phillips and David Johnson. 

Ex-Nihilo… Death! 

The story follows Jason Blood as he travels to San Francisco after receiving a mysterious letter promising a way to finally free himself from the demon Etrigan. 

• The Host: Blood meets Xavier Nihilo, an immortal man cursed centuries ago by Eclipso. Nihilo possesses a black diamond shard and seeks to use Etrigan’s power to finally end his immortal life before Eclipso can return to torment him further.
• Klarion's Betrayal: The situation is complicated by Klarion the Witch Boy, who also seeks the power of Eclipso to destroy his rival, Etrigan. Klarion uses a black diamond to invoke Eclipso, becoming "eclipsed" along with his familiar, the cat Teekl.
• The Battle: A massive fight ensues between the demon Etrigan and the "eclipsed" Klarion. Eclipso nearly defeats the Demon, but the intervention of Blood's companion, Harry Matthews, allows Etrigan to survive as Eclipso is forced to retreat to preserve his control over the magical hosts.
