The Incredible Hulk: Last Call # 1 is a special oversized one-shot released in June 2019 to celebrate Marvel's 80th anniversary. It famously reunites legendary writer Peter David and artist Dale Keown, the creative duo behind the character's most influential 1990s run. 

The story is an emotional retrospective set shortly after the death of Betty Ross. 

• The Struggle: Bruce Banner is deeply suicidal and calls a prevention hotline on Christmas Eve. He speaks with Veronica, a former friend of Betty's, recounting his history and failed attempts to end his life, noting that the Hulk always intervenes as a personification of his will to live.
• The Hit: Bruce reveals he has a "fool-proof" plan: he has hired a hitman to snipe him once he gives a specific signal.
• The Conflict: Their call is interrupted when Calvin Zabo (Mister Hyde)—Veronica's stalker—attacks her office. Recognizing the danger, Bruce transforms and battles Hyde.
• The Twist: After saving Veronica, Bruce finds a renewed spark of will. He signals the hitman to cancel the contract, and the shooter is revealed to be Deadpool, who is relieved he doesn't have to go through with it.
