The Marvel Saga # 1 1985 VF

The Marvel Saga # 1, published in December 1985, is the first issue of a 25-part series that presents the official history of the Marvel Universe in chronological order, using a mix of new original art and reprinted panels from classic comics. The issue is a guide for new readers to catch up on the origins of major characters and events. 

This issue, subtitled "Book I: The Saga Begins!," covers the earliest days of the Marvel timeline, leading up to the "Dawn of the Marvel Age". 

• Cosmic Origins: The story begins with the origins of the universe, including the history of cosmic entities like Galactus, the Watchers, and the early stages of the Kree/Skrull war.
• Ancient History: It explores events on ancient Earth, such as the great cataclysm that sank Atlantis, the early adventures of Conan the Barbarian, and the era of gods and legends, including Hercules and the original Black Knight.
• War Years: The narrative moves to the early 20th century, covering World War I with the original Union Jack, and World War II adventures featuring Nick Fury and his Howling Commandos, and the Invaders (including Captain America and Namor).
• The Marvel Age Dawns: The bulk of the issue focuses on the pre-superhero lives of core characters like Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, Donald Blake, Charles Xavier, and the origins of the Fantastic Four. The issue highlights:
• The origin and first adventure of Ant-Man (Henry Pym).
• The origin of the Fantastic Four and their first battle with the Mole Man.
• The Fantastic Four's first encounter with the Skrulls.
• The beginnings of the Alpha Flight program in Canada with James Hudson and Logan (Wolverine).
