The New Gods #1 (released December 18, 2024) is about the universal imbalance and ensuing chaos following Darkseid's death, which leads to a prophecy about a mysterious, powerful child on Earth whom Highfather commands Orion to kill. 

Story Synopsis 

The narrative picks up after Darkseid's demise, an event that has sent shockwaves throughout the universe and disrupted the balance between New Genesis and Apokolips. 

• The Prophecy: The Source sends enigmatic images to Metron, its agent, prophesying the birth of a new, powerful child on Earth who could bring either salvation or destruction.
• The Mission: Highfather, the ruler of New Genesis, is unsettled by the prophecy and charges his adopted son, Orion, with a grim and immediate task: find and eliminate the child before the potential disaster can unfold.
• The Dilemma: Orion, conflicted by his duty and his conscience, seeks the help of Mister Miracle (Scott Free) and Big Barda, who are living a quiet domestic life on Earth with their own infant daughter. Orion gives Scott seven days to find and save the prophesied child, Kamal in India, or Orion will be forced to carry out the mission himself.
