The Original Ghost Rider Rides Again # 5 (November 1991) is a reprint anthology that collects two key stories, originally from Ghost Rider #76 and #77, which focus on Johnny Blaze's efforts to separate himself from the demon Zarathos and the true origin of his demonic partner. 

Story 1: "Half a Demon...Half a Man!"

• Plot: The demon lord Mephisto, approached by a rival demon Asmodeus for control of Zarathos, decides to offer Johnny and Zarathos a chance at freedom. He splits the two using the Sword of Demonicus and forces them to race across a hellish landscape toward a portal back to Earth.
• The Condition: If Johnny and Zarathos both reach the portal at the same time, their bond will be broken; if not, Johnny's soul belongs to Asmodeus.
• Outcome: Despite the race, they reach the portal together and are re-joined as one, with the curse continuing. Ghost Rider then vows vengeance on Mephisto, who vaporizes Asmodeus. 

Story 2: "Ghost Rider -- Unleashed?"

• Plot: This story dives into the backstory of Zarathos. The demon recounts his ancient origin, where he was summoned by a medicine man to protect his tribe, gaining immense power that angered Mephisto.
• The Conflict: The dream demon Nightmare attempts to manipulate this history to turn Zarathos against his host, Johnny Blaze, in an effort to take over Johnny's body.
• Outcome: Ultimately, Nightmare is defeated, and the bond between Johnny and Zarathos endures, though their struggle for control of the body continues.
