The Warlord Annual # 1 1982 VF

The Warlord Annual # 1 is a special oversized issue of DC Comics' sword-and-sorcery series The Warlord, originally published on August 25, 1982 (with a cover date of October 1982). Created by Mike Grell, who served as the writer, penciler, and cover artist, the issue is titled "Gateway to Doom". 

The story follows Travis Morgan (The Warlord) and his companion Shakira on a rescue-oriented adventure in the mythical land of Skartaris. 

• The Mission: Morgan and Shakira encounter Princess Alisandre, who is traveling to the city of Kalabas for a political, arranged marriage to a man she has never met.
• The Conflict: Along the way, they assist a minstrel who is deeply in love with the princess. The Warlord and Shakira attempt to intervene and help the minstrel win her heart before she is wed. 
• Travis Morgan (The Warlord): A former U.S. Air Force pilot who crashed into the "hollow Earth" of Skartaris and became a freedom fighter.
• Shakira: A woman with the ability to transform into a black panther, serving as Morgan's loyal ally.
• Princess Alisandre: The royal on a journey toward an unwanted arranged marriage.
• The Minstrel (Tristan): The man in love with Alisandre who seeks Morgan's help.
