Timeslip: The Collection # 1 (November 1998) is a special one-shot comic from Marvel that compiles a series of "reimagining" concept pages originally published in the Marvel Vision fan magazine. The central idea of the issue is to showcase how various modern creators would redesign and re-envision classic Marvel heroes and villains if they were creating them from scratch in the late 1990s.

The issue is primarily a collection of pin-up style illustrations paired with short textual explanations of the altered origins or updated designs. It functions as a showcase of artistic interpretation rather than a traditional narrative story.

Key "Timeslip" redesigns featured in the collection include:

  • Spider-Man: Reimagined by artist Mike Allred with a drastically different costume, featuring red spikes on the knees and elbows and a mechanical grappling claw used for swinging instead of organic or tech-based webbing.
  • The Hulk: A gruesome take depicting Bruce Banner's head fused onto the chest of the Hulk's massive green body, making him a perpetually two-headed being.
  • The Punisher: Reimagined as a meticulous accountant who seeks revenge by employing "perfect mathematical calculations" to carry out his murders.
  • Quicksilver: A metallic version of the character, a literal "slave" to his father, Magneto, suggesting a more rigid and less human origin story.

The book features a diverse range of artistic talent from the era, offering unique perspectives on classic characters. Featured creators include:

  • Bill Sienkiewicz
  • Tim Sale
  • Jeff Smith
  • Mike Allred
  • Paul Pope
