Ultimate Marvel Team-Up #1 (2001) is a historic debut issue published by Marvel Comics in April 2001. Written by Brian Michael Bendis and illustrated by Matt Wagner, it kicks off a 16-issue anthology series designed to introduce classic Marvel heroes into the newly established, modernized Ultimate Universe (Earth-1610).
Plot Synopsis
The issue features the first-ever meeting between Ultimate Spider-Man and Ultimate Wolverine.
Peter Parker is still a young teenager adjusting to his new superpowers and dealing with intense anxiety. Seeing news reports of anti-mutant hysteria spreading across New York City, Peter begins to panic, terrified that his spider-powers mean he is actually a mutant.
Meanwhile, Wolverine (Logan) is tracked down and ambushed in the middle of Times Square by his fierce rival Sabretooth and heavily armed Weapon X operatives. Their brutal mutant brawl spills out into the public streets. Forcing his fears aside, Spider-Man leaps into the crossfire to help Wolverine fight off the attackers. The issue ends with a lighthearted comedic scene where a starstruck Peter tries to adopt Wolverine's tough "bad boy" persona at school to stand up to Flash Thompson—with predictably embarrassing results.
