Venom: Separation Anxiety #1 (2024) is the debut of a five-issue limited series published by Marvel Comics on May 15, 2024. Written by Venom co-creator David Michelinie, this "retro" series is a flashback story set during Eddie Brock's early "Lethal Protector" days.

Plot Summary: "The King in Purple"

The story pits a classic, "brain-eating" version of Venom against a reality-warping foe.

• The Conflict: Purple Man manages to steal the Venom symbiote for himself, forcing a separated and mentally unstable Eddie to fight to regain his bond and sanity.
• Classic Tone: The issue features a "jaded monologue" regarding Eddie's vengeance against Spider-Man and includes guest appearances by characters like Joy Mercado.
