Wolverine: Revenge # 1 Villalobos Variant 2024 NM-

Wolverine: Revenge # 1, a prestige limited series published in August 2024 by Marvel Comics, begins an alternate-universe storyline set in the aftermath of the "Fatal Attractions" event, where an EMP blast has crippled the Northern Hemisphere. The issue, by Jonathan Hickman and Greg Capullo, sees Wolverine join a S.H.I.E.L.D. team on a mission that ends in betrayal and death, leaving Logan with a singular focus on vengeance. 

The story is an alternate continuity tale that bypasses certain canon events to tell a brutal, self-contained story. 

• Global Crisis: The issue establishes the premise that the fall of Asteroid M and Magneto's death have caused a massive electromagnetic pulse (EMP), knocking out power across most of the Western world.
• The Mission: Nick Fury recruits Wolverine (who was in the Savage Land hunting dinosaurs at the time and unaffected by the EMP), Captain America, and Bucky Barnes for a desperate mission to retrieve the world's only working cold fusion reactor, located in Tunguska, Russia. The reactor is held by the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, which includes Mastermind, Sabretooth, Omega Red, and a villainous Deadpool.
• Betrayal and Ambush: As the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarriers approach their target, Mastermind uses his powers to mind-control the pilots, causing the ships to crash. The S.H.I.E.L.D. team is ambushed on the ground, and most of them, including Captain America and Bucky, are quickly killed by the Brotherhood.
• Explosive Cliffhanger: Wolverine wakes up captured, with the villains having surgically implanted bombs in the chests of the surviving heroes. Deadpool is given the detonator, and the bombs are set off. Wolverine's allies are killed, but his healing factor ensures his survival, albeit in a bloody state, leaving him with only one thought: revenge.
