Wolverine: Revenge Red Band # 1, which was originally published in August 2024 (and re-released in a black & white edition in 2025), is the start of a five-issue limited series that features an even bloodier, polybagged version of the main story, with exclusive pages and elevated violence not present in the standard edition. The story is written by Jonathan Hickman with art by Greg Capullo. 

The main plot of the miniseries is set in an alternate continuity, shortly after the "Fatal Attractions" storyline, where an EMP blast from the fallen Asteroid M has crippled much of the Northern Hemisphere. 

• The Mission: Nick Fury recruits Wolverine, Captain America, and Bucky Barnes for a desperate mission to retrieve the only known working cold fusion reactor from the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants in Tunguska, Russia. The team is ambushed by a new lineup of the Brotherhood, which includes Sabretooth, Omega Red, and Deadpool.
• Betrayal and Defeat: Most of the team is quickly slaughtered. Captain America and Bucky are captured and killed, and Wolverine is seemingly killed when the villains detonate bombs Mastermind stitched into their chests.
• Revenge: Wolverine, of course, survives due to his healing factor. Fueled by a desire for vengeance for his fallen allies, Logan is left with only one thought on his mind: revenge. 

Red Band Edition Details

The "Red Band" edition is Marvel's explicit content line, similar to an R-rated version of a movie. 

• Elevated Violence: This version includes more graphic and visceral depictions of violence, gore, and blood throughout the issue.
• Exclusive Content: It features a few extra pages and different panels not found in the regular edition of Wolverine: Revenge #1, such as a completely redrawn bottom half of one page and more graphic healing panels.
• Polybagged: For the protection of "innocent eyes," the comic was sold in a sealed polybag.
