Wonder Man # 1 1991 NM

Wonder Man # 1 is the debut issue of the first ongoing solo series for the character, published in October 1991 (with a cover date of December 1991), which focuses on Simon Williams' struggle to launch his acting career while finding purpose as a hero. 

The story, titled "Wonder Man," details Simon Williams' post-Avengers life as he navigates Hollywood and explores new career opportunities. 

• Hollywood Struggles: Simon has an unsuccessful audition for a soap opera called Secret Hospital and reflects on his past, from inheriting his father's company to his various resurrections and his time with the Avengers. He is trying to build confidence and move on from his past.
• A New Job: Ant-Man (Scott Lang) informs him about a potential job at Cordco, Inc., a science and tech company. Simon applies for a position as a "top-flight A-#1 troubleshooter".
• The Incident at Cordco: Simon meets Calvin Oakly, the CEO of Cordco, and Dr. Ed Wheetley, a scientist running experiments with a device that observes other dimensions. When the experiments go wrong and gnomes from another dimension appear, Simon uses his powers to safely stop the machine and is given the job.
• Reflection: The issue establishes Simon's ongoing struggle with his identity, balancing his life as a superhero and his aspirations as an actor, and his desire to have a normal life and a regular job.
