Wonder Man # 3, published by Marvel Comics with a cover date of November 1991, introduces the new villainess Gamma-Burn and Wonder Man's potential new sidekick, Spider Beach.
The story, titled "Eye of the Beholder", continues Simon Williams' adventures in Hollywood, where he has to deal with a new threat while resisting the idea of having a sidekick forced upon him for public relations reasons.
- New Villain: A woman named Dr. Arliss Gordon, frustrated with Hollywood's "cult of beauty" and the pressure on women's appearances, seeks a cure for PMS via gamma radiation and transforms herself into the Abomination-like villain Gamma-Burn.
- Forced Sidekick: Simon's agent decides it would be a good public relations move for Wonder Man to have a sidekick and introduces him to Spider Beach (brother of Simon's friend, Ginger Beach).
- The Battle: Wonder Man battles Gamma-Burn as she rampages through Hollywood. Simon has zero interest in a sidekick, but Spider makes a clever suggestion during the fight that ultimately helps Wonder Man achieve victory.
- Second Feature: The issue also includes a one-page mock interview with Simon Williams by "Gutwrencher Magazine".
