X-Force # 1 1991 Polybagged VF/NM

X-Force # 1 (1991) is a 48-page giant issue that details the newly formed, militaristic X-Force team's first mission to an Antarctic base to confront the terrorist group the Mutant Liberation Front (MLF) and its leader, Stryfe. The issue also introduces several key subplots that define the early series. 

The main narrative of the issue focuses on the transition of the former New Mutants from students to soldiers under the leadership of the time-traveling warrior Cable. 

• Antarctic Invasion: X-Force (Cable, Cannonball, Domino, Shatterstar, Warpath, Feral, and Boom Boom) storms a remote MLF base in Antarctica. The action-heavy sequence establishes the team's more aggressive, take-no-prisoners approach compared to the X-Men.
• Stryfe's Escape: During the intense battle, Shatterstar cuts off Reaper's hand, demonstrating their seriousness. Stryfe monitors the fight remotely and initiates a self-destruct sequence, allowing the MLF to escape via the teleporter Zero before the base is destroyed.
• G.W. Bridge's Pursuit: S.H.I.E.L.D. Commander G.W. Bridge investigates the ruins of the MLF base and finds evidence of Cable's advanced weaponry. He vows to capture Cable and X-Force, seeing them as a threat beyond S.H.I.E.L.D.'s jurisdiction, and contacts Nick Fury for authorization to seek external help.
• Sunspot's New Path: In Manhattan, former New Mutant Sunspot is training with his new mentor, the wealthy and enigmatic Gideon. Gideon is preparing Sunspot for a role in corporate affairs, but they are taken hostage during a business buyout at the World Trade Center by Black Tom Cassidy and Arianna Jankos.
• Cable's Past Revealed: Cable has a private conversation with Cannonball and Domino, where he alludes to his painful personal history with the MLF and the loss of his son, Tyler, in his future timeline, explaining his dedication to stopping Stryfe.
