X-Men Adventures # 1 (1992) is a comic book adaptation of the first episode of the iconic X-Men: The Animated Series, titled "Night of the Sentinels, Part One". It introduces Jubilee, the X-Men team, and their conflict with the mutant-hunting Sentinels and the Mutant Registration Act.

  • Jubilee's Discovery: The story begins with Jubilee's foster parents watching a news report about mutant violence and deciding they must register her with the government under the Mutant Registration Act. Jubilee overhears them and runs away to a mall arcade.
  • Sentinel Attack: At the mall, Jubilee's powers manifest, melting an arcade game and drawing the attention of both the arcade owner and a Sentinel robot that had been dispatched to her home. The Sentinel attacks her in the mall.
  • The Rescue: Storm, Gambit, and Rogue, who are also at the mall, intervene and battle the Sentinel. Cyclops arrives and destroys the robot's head with his optic blast, saving Jubilee.
  • The X-Mansion: Jubilee is taken to the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters, where she meets Professor X, Beast, Morph, and Wolverine. Unsettled by Wolverine, she escapes the mansion and attempts to return home.
  • Gyrich's Involvement: Jubilee's foster parents are questioned by the government official Henry Gyrich. Jubilee is captured near her home by a second Sentinel and taken into custody.
  • The Mission: Professor X reveals that many registered mutants have disappeared and believes someone within the Agency for Mutant Affairs is kidnapping them. The X-Men decide to break into the facility to erase the files, despite Cyclops's reservations about breaking the law.
  • Cliffhanger: The X-Men infiltrate the facility, and as they progress, Morph has a premonition of his death before the issue ends on a cliffhanger as the team encounters armed guards.

The issue sets up the main conflict for the first season of the animated series, introducing themes of prejudice, fear, and the struggle for mutant rights.
