X-Men Red #1 (2022) launches a new series set on Planet Arakko (once Mars), focusing on Storm's efforts to lead a new mutant society grappling with peace after millennia of war. The issue introduces a complex political landscape involving various factions with their own agendas.

Story Synopsis: "The Broken Land"

The mutants of Arakko were granted Mars by the Krakoans and have terraformed it into their new home, "Planet Arakko," but adapting a war-forged culture to peace proves challenging. Storm has assumed the role of Regent of Sol and a member of the Great Ring, the planet's ruling council. She believes Arakko needs something more enduring than a monarch to thrive.

Meanwhile, Abigail Brand of S.W.O.R.D., the orbital defense agency, has her own manipulative plans for Arakko and attempts to form a rival X-Men team featuring an unstable Vulcan (Gabriel Summers) and a secretive Cable. A confrontation breaks out at Sunspot's new bar, the "Red Lagoon," involving Vulcan, Sunspot, and Thunderbird, highlighting the friction between Earth and Arakko mutants.

Magneto, disillusioned with Krakoa, has retired to Arakko, seeking an end to his days in peace. Storm eventually decides against Brand's proposal to form an "X-Men" team and instead contacts Magneto, proposing they form a "Brotherhood" to defend the "broken land" on their own terms.
