Young Hellboy: Assault on Castle Death # 1  published by Dark Horse Comics on July 20, 2022, is the first issue of a four-part miniseries exploring Hellboy's childhood. 

Set in June 1947, the story follows Hellboy and his adoptive father, Professor Trevor Bruttenholm, as they relocate with the B.P.R.D. from New Mexico to Connecticut. 

• A New Home: The transition is difficult for young Hellboy, who struggles with homesickness and scrambled memories from his previous adventure on a secret island.
• The Shadowy Enemy: Word of Hellboy's survival reaches an unknown enemy—a secret group that failed to kill him previously and is now determined to finish the job.
• The "Castle Death": The issue introduces the mysterious concept of "Castle Death," which may be tied to the cult hunting him or Hellboy's own vivid imagination and coping mechanisms.
