Captain Marvel # 1 (2023), written by Alyssa Wong with art by Jan Bazaldua, launched in October 2023 as a major relaunch for Carol Danvers. The series introduces a new status quo that parallels the body-swapping concept seen in the MCU film The Marvels. 

The debut issue focuses on Carol Danvers facing a cosmic-level threat while becoming unintentionally linked to a new character. 

• The Nega-Band Connection: The story introduces Yuna Yang, a young thief who attempts to steal the legendary Nega-Bands. This leads to a permanent entanglement with Carol Danvers, where the two switch places between the normal universe and the Negative Zone.
• A New Nemesis: Carol faces a mysterious and powerful new antagonist known as The Omen, a herald of a cosmic entity called The Undone.
• Permanent Glow-Up: The series features a new costume design for Carol by superstar artist Jen Bartel.
• Modern Relaunch: This series follows the conclusion of Kelly Thompson's long-running 50-issue series and Ann Nocenti's Dark Tempest miniseries.
