Spider-Man, first appeared in Marvel Comics' Amazing Fantasy # 15 (published in August 1962, is a fictional superhero created by writer Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko for Marvel Comics. The character is the alter ego of Peter Parker, a relatable, socially awkward teenager who gains superhuman abilities after being bitten by a radioactive spider. He is known for embodying the moral lesson: "With great power there must also come great responsibility"

  • Alter Ego: Peter Parker, an intelligent but initially unassuming orphan raised by his Aunt May and Uncle Ben in Queens, New York City.
  • Origin: A bite from a genetically-modified or radioactive spider at a science exhibit or lab grants him superhuman powers. He initially uses his powers for personal gain, but after a burglar he allowed to escape murders his Uncle Ben, he vows to use his abilities responsibly.

    • Superhuman Strength and Agility: Capable of lifting nearly 10 tons and performing incredible acrobatic feats.
    • Wall-Crawling: The ability to cling to and crawl along surfaces and ceilings.
    • Spider-Sense: A precognitive internal alarm that warns him of impending danger.
    • Genius Intellect: Peter is an accomplished scientist and inventor who designs and builds his own wrist-mounted "web-shooters" and synthetic web-fluid. 

Spider-Man was a groundbreaking character because he dealt with the real-life struggles of adolescence and young adulthood, such as financial difficulties, job hunting, and personal relationships, making him highly relatable to a broad audience. Despite a life filled with tragedy and loss, Peter channels his grief into heroism, emphasizing resilience and moral goodness.
